SPRING ReTREAT - Looking & seeing
REDISCOVER BALANCE & CREATIVITY THROUGH NATURE, HERE IN DEVON
Step away from the rush of everyday life and rediscover a sense of balance and wellbeing. Join me, Sally Potter, and my guest-host, botanical artist Sarah Poat, for Looking and Seeing—a retreat on Dartmoor where creativity and the natural world come together to inspire calm, balance, and wellbeing. No previous art experience is needed—just a desire to slow down, breathe, and reconnect to a space of creative flow.
April 3rd - 7th 2025
Running retreats is one of the most rewarding things I do. I love creating a space where women can step away from the pressures of daily life and into a world of calm and connection. In a small, intimate group, surrounded by the beauty of Dartmoor, we relax into the time and space. Everyone truly slows down, reflects, and is able to reconnect to themselves.
The women who join me on my retreats often arrive feeling pulled in every direction—overwhelmed, exhausted, and disconnected. They come seeking peace, a moment to breathe, and the chance to rediscover who they are beyond the stress of everyday life.
Slow down, find space, connect to nature and recharge
The women I welcome to my retreats find that opportunity to slow down here - away from everything, and through a wonderfully healing combination of luxury, nature and nurture. They leave feeling cared for, nourished, recharged and grounded, with tools and practices to help them sustain a sense of balance long after the retreat ends.
This retreat offers you the same opportunity. Through guided self-hypnosis and wellbeing practices, I’ll help you connect with your inner calm and strength—reminding you of the peace that is always within you.
What to expect at the SPRING retreat
PErsonalised care & relaxation
Retreat activities are designed to help you find calm, reconnect with yourself, and rediscover your inner balance. Learn self-hypnosis techniques with me that are designed to build confidence, reduce stress, improve focus, and promote better sleep, as well as restoring a general sense of balance and wellbeing. You’ll receive personalised support and guidance throughout your stay, ensuring you feel nurtured and supported every step of the way.
luxurious setting
You’ll stay at the award-winning Cottages at Blackadon Farm, a peaceful retreat centre nestled on the edge of Dartmoor. The tranquil surroundings offer the perfect escape from the pressures of everyday life.
nature walks
Immerse yourself in the beauty of Dartmoor and the South Hams, with guided walks that allow you to connect with nature and find stillness in the healing landscape. We will tailor the walks we do to suit everyone in the group. We will aim to cater to everyone’s abilities.
CREATIVE WORKSHOPS
Creativity is at the heart of this retreat. But this isn’t about being an artist - it’s about becoming immersed in nature and your own creativity. Regardless of your artistic ability, I invite you to let go of any expectations or insecurities you may have about expressing your creativity. You might simply add colour to paper, explore nature through collage, express yourself through writing or print or try something completely new!
The focus is on finding how you enjoy nature and expressing that creatively, however that looks for you! This is a gentle, therapeutic way to explore self-expression, helping you feel calm, centred, and connected to the world around you.
NUTRITIOUS MEALS
Enjoy healthy, seasonal meals prepared with love by Sandy from Dartmoor Larder. Every dish is locally sourced, nourishing both body and mind.
FORM LASTING CONNECTIONS
One of the most valuable aspects of our retreat is the opportunity to build supportive relationships. You’ll share your experiences in a safe community of women, forming lasting connections that will continue beyond the retreat.
Sarah POAT - watercolour & botanical artist
As part of your retreat experience, I’m thrilled to welcome Sarah Poat, a renowned botanical watercolour artist and nature enthusiast. Sarah’s work celebrates the wildflowers and landscapes of Dartmoor and South Devon, and her art has been featured in exhibitions at the RHS Lindley Hall in London and the Saatchi Gallery. She is a member of the Eden Project Florilegium Society and the South West Society of Botanical Artists, with a passion for capturing the beauty of the natural world
Sarah’s calm and nurturing guidance will help you reconnect with your natural creative instincts, providing a supportive space to explore and play, surrounded by the beauty of Dartmoor.
From our previous guests:
-
I loved the relaxed nature that put everyone at their ease. The balance was great between activities and chilling. I loved the fact there were paints, pencils and pens around for sketching and painting. Sallys hypnotherapy was so lovely... she has a wonderful voice that relaxes you. I didn't expect to bond with everyone and thought I would feel nervous of meeting new people but I wasn't."
Lorraine, April 24 retreat

"I enjoyed the whole experience, Sally's perfectly put together itinerary was flexible but so thoughtfully arranged, everyone and everything was a joy. Sandy's wonderful food plus Sally arranged an extra 'colour' workshop when we expressed an interest in it and this was excellent too. I found all workshops useful and beneficial plus I benefited very much personally from the reflexology session and the Sound Journey. It was such a comfortable environment both because of the accommodation and the lovely individuals involved. Just a wonderful enjoyable experience."
Kathryn, March 23 retreat
-
“My whole want for the weekend was to slow down and change that belief of ‘always in a rush’. I wanted to share, Sally, as I feel so many would feel similar about slowing down and taking time, and this is the power of it"
Jo Sayers - Coach for Mums, March '23 retreat
-
"I liked the supportive atmosphere. it achieved the unusual combination of being caring but not intrusive"
Beryl, January '23 retreat
-
"The perfect location tucked away emersed in healing nature. The activities all worked to still our minds and re connect deeper with ourselves again. I loved Sarah showing us how to look for the smaller detail in nature and notice more of what's there!"
Leanne, April 24 retreat
-
"I loved how thoughtful everyone was and the attention to detail was excellent. I was exhausted when I started the course and really uptight. I left feeling happier and calmer and very refreshed"
