FAQs about Hypnotherapy

I still see Sally regularly just for that wonderful feeling of being somewhat pain-free when in trance. Just half an hour of break from it is an amazing feeling.

1. What is Hypnotherapy, and is it safe?

Hypnotherapy is a technique that uses guided relaxation and focused attention to help you access your subconscious mind. It's a safe and natural process that doesn't involve giving up control. You'll be in a state of relaxed awareness throughout the session, and you can choose to end it at any time.

2. Will I be in a trance?

A "trance" is simply a state of deep relaxation and focused attention. It's similar to when you're so engrossed in a book or movie that you lose track of time. You'll always be aware of your surroundings and able to respond as needed.

3. Can Hypnotherapy Help with Anxiety and Stress?

Absolutely! Hypnotherapy can be highly effective in managing anxiety and stress. By helping you identify what you want instead of anxiety, together we can create a calm and confident future, free from unwanted responses to stress.

Within a few sessions I was able to relax, understand the reasons for my behaviour and control the panic attacks. I now practice what I learned every day and have a completely different outlook on the world. This has enabled me to achieve more and to focus on the things in my life that make me happy.

4. Is Hypnotherapy a Quick Fix?

While solution focused hypnotherapy provides immediate relief for some individuals, it's important to view it as a process. The number of sessions needed will vary depending on your specific situation. Four sessions with me provides a very solid foundation for experiencing the long-term benefits of hypnotherapy. Further sessions can be added as needed, and any of the memberships will allow you to top up with a discounted ‘massage of the mind’ as and when you need to.

5. Is Hypnotherapy Suitable for Everyone?

Hypnotherapy is generally suitable for most people. However, it may not be appropriate for individuals with certain medical conditions or those who are under the influence of substances. During your initial consultation, we'll discuss your individual circumstances to determine if hypnotherapy is right for you. Hypnotherapy is contraindicated if you have epilepsy, schizophrenia or psychosis. If you do have these conditions, we may still be able to work together using Solution Focused BRIEF therapy, which doesn’t use hypnosis. If you’re not sure, please book a free call using the button to the left.

6. What Can I Expect During a Hypnotherapy Session?

A typical session involves a conversation to establish your best hopes. Then you’ll get comfortable for some guided relaxation, hypnosis, and suggestion. You'll be asked to focus on my voice and relax your body. I’ll guide you into a state of deep relaxation, where suggestions can be introduced to help you move towards what you want.
Solution Focused Therapy is a happy kind of therapy. My clients leave smiling and relaxed, which is how it should be!
